Having a model is helpful to students so that they understand clearly the steps that must be made in order to create their own bar graphs using the data they have collected in an organized way. This math lesson has also helped me grow professionally on the skills I will be using as a teacher, because I am now able to understand just how important it is to model activities that I would like my students to do. Keeping track of my own teaching time was helped me tremendously because that left more time for the students to implement the activities.

Reflection on my professional growth in knowledge, skills, and dispositions related to this ACEI Standard and Element(s). Students were able to take the data they have collected and analyze it so that the may make a proper bar graph.Ģ. This math lesson has met ACEI Standard I: Curriculum and Standard Element 2.3: Candidates know, understand, and use the major concepts and procedures that define number and operations, algebra, geometry, measurement, and data analysis and probability. Once all the data was collected, students were taught how to create a bar graph using proper labels and intervals. With their survey questions at hand, students were provided with a worksheet that would help them collect their data and keep track of which classmates they have already asked and need to ask.

The students were instructed to think of one open ended question with four choices their fellow classmates could choose from to serve as their survey question. The purpose of this lesson was to introduce to students the different methods of collecting data and then using a bar graph to show their data. This lesson was done in a fourth grade classroom.
